Concrete Cutting and Coring Questions
Many people have lots of questions about what we do. Yes.. we can cut almost any thickness of concrete, or drill most any depth or size hole you can imagine. Core Drilling is used when a job calls for the drilling of circular holes in reinforced concrete, pre-cast concrete, asphalt, brick, cinderblock and
other structural materials. Most often the holes are made for electrical, plumbing, heating, sewer, sprinkler installations and structural anchors.
Here are some common questions and answers. Feel free to call us with questions or concerns about your particular requirements.
What is a Coring Bit?
These are a hollow tube bit and cut concrete fairly rapidly. They go up to quite large diameter, but need a water feed down the middle for cooling and debris removal. Diamond core drilling is dust free, quiet and capable of cutting through steel reinforcing rods with little difficulty. Unlike rotary percussion tools which can
spread stress cracks through concrete and damage adjoining concrete.
Why don't you just use a jackhammer?
Stress cracks spread through concrete, the jackhammer process damages the adjoining concrete if you do not cut, before you break.
Do you drill large holes?
Yes. We carry up to 24" diameter bits in stock, but can drill much larger holes if your needs arise.
Do you have the ability to cut door openings in poured concrete basement walls?
Yes. With our diamond chainsaw, we can make these cuts easily and quickly.
What about vibrations?
We use of Diamond Core bits. There is no vibration and consequently no structural damage because reinforcing rods are not loosened.
What about dust and dirt?
We use a Dust-Free wet cutting system, which creates slurry that we vacuum up, leaving a clean work area. In fact, your area will usually be cleaner after we leave, than before we even started working.
Can you operate in clean/sensitive areas such as hospitals and manufacturing facilities?
Yes. Part of our expertise is the ability to contain and control our work area when necessary to seal off the area completely. We apply the same methods found in Asbestos removal.
Do you travel outside of your immediate area?
Yes. We are able to service customers in New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Connecticut.
